A la Carte Tickets

If you wish to attend only one or two conference events you can purchase a la carte tickets at registration or at the door of any conference event.

Please note - we are not selling a la carte tickets online!

A la Carte Ticket Pricing
Guest Speakers (2 sessions) $45
Conference Breakout Sessions (2) $25
Conference Breakout Sessions (4) $40
Conference Breakout Sessions (6) $55
Autonomous Robot Showcase $25

2010 GCER Preconference Sessions

The Global Conference will feature three preconference sessions this summer. Preconference sessions are an optional additional activity that are not included with conference registration. You can select a preconference activity when you register to attend GCER. See the preconference page for more information.

2010 GCER Volunteering

There are many volunteer opportunities for the Botball community to help insure a successful Global Conference. We hope that many of our attendees will choose to fill a volunteer position at some point during the conference.

For people who are not registered to attend the full conference, we can offer a la carte tickets for specific conference events if you sign up to be a volunteer or a complimentary GCER t-shirt! If you’re already registered for the full event you can opt for a free GCER t-shirt in exchange for volunteer hours.

Check out the volunteer sign up form to see all the dates, times and jobs that are available. If you have any questions, please email Marci Corey.

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Event Set Up

Event set up will occur on July 6th all day at the venue. Event set up includes (but is not limited to) setting up the following: tournament tables, registration, judging materials, student pit area, signage, merchandise, etc. The Botball program manager will be available throughout set up to provide direction and instruction.

Table Timer

Table timers will be assigned to the arena area during all open practice times to make sure teams are using only the allotted amount of time on the tournament tables. Their duties will include timing the teams on a given table with a stop watch and letting them know when their time is up.

Session/Showcase Helper

Session helpers will scan name badges at the door of each breakout session, guest speaker session and showcase. Each session helper volunteer will be paired with a Botball staff member. Session helpers will need to arrive at the designated room 15 minutes prior to the start of the session and should remain outside the door until 15 minutes after the beginning of the session.

Merchandise Table

Merchandise table volunteers will sell Botball products near the tournament arena area during open practice sessions and during tournament times. Merchandise volunteers will take payments for Botball merchandise sold at the conference and will receive instructions on how to complete their duties when they arrive for their shift.

Score Runners

Score runners will work in the tournament arena area. Their task will be to get the score sheets from the tournament tables to the scorekeeper and to inform the on deck managers when tournament tables are open and available for the next team. Score runners will receive instruction from a Botball staff member prior to the start of each tournament session.

On Deck Assistant

On deck volunteers will be responsible for getting the students into the on deck area in an orderly manner and out of the on deck area as tournament tables become available. On deck volunteers will receive instruction from a Botball staff member prior to the start of each tournament session.

KIPR Open Tournament Helper

KIPR Open helpers will provide general support during the KIPR Open tournament (formerly Beyond Botball). Tasks might include helping call teams from the pit area to the on deck area, moving teams from the on deck area to the arena in an orderly manner, and taking score sheets from the judges to the scorekeeper.

Strike Helper

Strike helpers will assist Botball staff members in taking down and packing up all equipment and materials brought in by Botball. Strike will include (but is not limited to) taking down and packing up the following: tournament tables and supplies, registration, session materials, judging supplies, signage, merchandise, etc.

Submit Papers and Robots

GCER Call for Papers

The conference sessions provide an opportunity for students, robotics enthusiasts, mentors and educators to share their work and ideas. We encourage original thinking on topics as detailed as technical innovations and as broad as ethics and robotics.

The deadline for submitting a paper is June 2, 2010!

For information about submitting a paper, see the 2010 Call For Papers .

GCER Call for Autonomous Robotics Showcase

The goal of the Autonomous Robotics Showcase at the Global Conference on Educational Robotics is to provide an opportunity for students, robotics enthusiasts, mentors and educators to display autonomous robot projects in a non-competitive environment and facilitate dialogue about robotics. Robots integrated into artwork are also appropriate.

The deadline for submitting a showcase entry is June 2, 2010!

For information about submitting your robotics project, see the 2010 Call for Robotics Showcase.
